The Mediating Effects of Self-Control on the Relationship between Cognitive Deconstruction and SNS Addiction Tendency among Adolescents
Son Jong-Woo

Lee Young-Soon
Abstract
This study explored the influence of cognitive deconstruction among adolescents on Social Networking Site (SNS) addiction tendency, using self-control as a mediator. Participants were 241 high school students. The data were analyzed using a Pearson Correlation test, Stepwise Regression Analysis, and the Baron and Kenny (1986) 3-step method. Finally, a Sobel test was performed to examine the significance of the mediating effect. The results indicated a positive correlation between cognitive deconstruction and SNS addiction tendency among adolescents. Cognitive deconstruction was related to lower levels of adolescent self-control, which result in enhanced SNS addiction tendency. Additionally, the impact of cognitive deconstruction on SNS addiction tendency was mediated by self-control. The implications and limitations of this study, as well as recommendations for future research, are presented.
